«In verità, la tua menzogna ricadrà sulla tua testa. Già l'angelo di Dio ha ricevuto da Dio la sentenza e ti spaccherà in due» (Daniele, 13, 55)

Queste sono le parole che il giovane Daniele rivolge ai due anziani giudici nel celebre episodio dell’Antico Testamento di Susanna e i Vecchioni.

Susanna era una nobile e bellissima giovane di Babilonia che rifiuta di congiungersi con due vecchi magistrati che l’avevano spiata mentre faceva il bagno. Questi, per vendetta, la denunciano per adulterio e ne chiedono la condanna a morte.

E nella violenta, dolorosa eppure sensuale rappresentazione che l’arte soprattutto del ‘600 è riuscita a dare dell’episodio di Susanna (in basso, la versione dell’unica e sola Artemisia Gentileschi, 1610, che da poco è stata sottoposta ai raggi x rivelando una straordinaria prima versione) vedo un parallelismo perfetto con l’aberrante vicenda dei gruppi Telegram inneggianti a stupri e pieni di pedopornografia. Una silenziosa cloaca dell’Inferno.

Cosa unisce l’episodio biblico con quello denunciato da Wired? Una storia vecchia come il mondo, anzi, come Adamo ed Eva.

La storia del corpo, soprattutto quello femminile, che proprio nella sua più intima e divina manifestazione, quella nuda, è deriso, distorto, rubato, violentato. Il corpo nudo, persino nell’intimità del bagno come succede a Susanna, non è più sotto il controllo dell’essere umano che lo abita, questo non è più libero di rappresentarlo e diffonderlo secondo la sua volontà (o, per usare termini biblici, secondo il proprio libero arbitrio). La sua raffigurazione viene rubata e distorta per vendetta (dai Vecchi Magistrati o dai membri dei gruppi Telegram) per costringere quel corpo a piegarsi ad un (maschilista) desiderio sessuale, e per punirlo di non aver accettato l’atto sessuale e la sottomissione. Oppure, per deriderlo di averlo fatto.

Ancora una volta, al tempo dei social network come al tempo di Babilonia, il corpo creato ad immagine e somiglianza di Dio viene oltraggiato, la libertà di usarlo nel modo che vogliamo calpestata. In altre parole, il corpo femminile è solo un oggetto di piacere sessuale, violentato per far soffrire la donna in quanto libera, per farla morire, se non fisicamente come Susanna almeno socialmente. E la cosa peggiore è che a perpetrare la diabolica menzogna sono spesso i “Vecchi Magistrati”, i “buoni padri di famiglia”, coloro che per primi ricoprono il ruolo di difensori della giustizia e dei valori. Ed anche se non sei in quell’infernale gruppo Telegram, ignorare la gravità del problema, banalizzarlo, riderne, ti rende complice tanto quanto chi ne fa parte.

«In verità anche la tua menzogna ti ricadrà sulla testa. Ecco l'angelo di Dio ti aspetta con la spada in mano per spaccarti in due e così farti morire».

These are the words the young Daniel speak to the two elders in the well known Old Testament episode of Susanna and the Elders.

Susanna was a noble, beautiful young woman from Babilonia, who refused the avances of the two old judges that had harassed her while bathing.

For revenge, they publicly accuse her of adultery and claim her death. In the violent, disturbing and still voluptuous representation of the episode handed down moslty by XVI century art (here 1610 version of the unique Artemisia Gentileschi, recently studied with x-ray technique revealing an astonishing underpainting) I perceive a perfect parallelism with the ominous case of Telegram groups encouraging rape and paedopornography. A quiet infernal cloaca. Which is the connection between this biblical episode and the one reported by Wired in Italy?

An history as old as Adam and Eve. The history of a body, especially the female one, that paradoxically in its most intimate and divine manifestation, the naked one, is mocked, distorted, jacked, raped. Even in the bath privacy as in the Susanna’s case, the naked body is no more under the control of the human being inhabitating it, this can no more represent and communicate it as he or she wishes (or, to use biblical terms, according to its free will). Its representation is stolen and distorted in revenge (either by the Elders or by Telegram users), to force that body to bend to a masculinist sexual desire, and to punish it for having denied sex and submission. Or, on the other hand, to mock it for having consented to it. Once again, in the social media era as in the Babylon one, the body made in the image and likeness of God is offended, the freedom to make use of it trampled. In oterh words, female body becomes a mere object of sexual pleasure, raped to torture the women as a free creature till she dies, if not physically as Susanna at least socially. And the worst thing is that perpetrators are usually “the Judges”, the “good family men”, those we call on to defend values and justice. And even if you’re not in one of those infernal Telegram group, ignoring the seriousness of the problem, trivialising it, mocking it, makes you a partner in all of this. «This lie has cost you also your head, for the angel of God is waiting with his sword to split you in two, so as to destroy you both» Text and translation by Marianna Fatti
